chauvette's music...

Marc started working the circuit in 1976 at the age of 17. His first paying gig was at a biker bar in Watertown NY (then known as Jammer's Tavern) with half-brother Robin Davis where he played keyboards, guitar, lead vocals, and wrote original music for the popular upstate NY group "Wirlwind". During this period, he turned down an audition in NYC as a guitarist with the king of the twist "Chubby Checker".

He later joined up with the 8-piece horn band "Contraband" and toured Florida with the group in the late 1970's. While with "Wirlwind" and "Contraband" he shared the stage with such other acts as "Blue Oyster Cult", "Chubby Checker", "Benny Mardones", and "Leslie West" of "Mountain". "Contraband" returned to upstate NY in 1981 where the group disbanded, and a new "Wirlwind" band was formed. Wirwind disbanded in 1989.

Marc became interested in electronic music composition as a hobby. He later teamed up with Bob Watts to form "Chauvette and Watts" who would later become a staple in resort entertainment in the Thousand Islands in upstate NY. It was there that he would first meet "The Scintas", who were already legends in the Alex Bay region. At this time, Frankie Scinta told Chauvette "If we ever make it big in this business, we're going to give you a call". Marc was flattered but thought nothing would ever become of that. Chauvette was asked to join up with "The Scintas" in Las Vegas, Nevada in December of 2000, where he currently resides.

In March of 2005, Chauvette caught up with Michael Mustizer, an aspiring film director/producer from the East coast. Chauvette, hoping to land a movie composing/scoring deal, agreed to score the orchestral music for a full-length action/ adventure feature called "The Coldest Winter." He spent an entire year with trial and error mixes and re-writes. Finally in January of 2006, the film was released to be viewed at several indie film festivals and would pick up the Hollywood DV Film Festival's "Best Action/Adventure Feature Film" award, and the Fargo Fantastic Film Festival's "Best Action/Adventure Feature Film" award as well. The movie is currently under consideration for distribution. Samples of the soundtrack can be heard at: http://www.cafepress.com/coldwinter.41216672

Also in the works in 2007 are tracks for the HARPO Sounds Catalog in Chicago. Chauvette's instrumental composition "Osia Con Intensita" was added recently to the catalog for future production considerations. Chauvette is currently in his own studio composing works for his new project "702," a "power-pop" compilation of songs with ideas from a journal kept about moving from a small-town suburb to "Sin City".

Chauvette is now in Las Vegas appearing with the show group "The Scintas" at the world famous Las Vegas Hilton, writing original music, and scoring music for various DV films.

OK. I promised after all the comments on the first edit of this one that I would go back and make some changes. Thanks to all of your enlightening comments, I came up with this edit. This is truly the final edit. I can't think of anything else for this one. I posted *edit 2* yesterday, but quickly discovered I didn't like the mix. I think this one is the one. I left up *edit 1* for comparison from start to finish...

Ode To Big Jim

"Big Jim" ( Jim Hood ) was a good friend and an exceptional guitarist with a southern - rock style band in Upstate N.Y., my hometown of Watertown. He was known and loved by all, was a great musician, and a great human being. He was killed on the way home from a gig by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign. This song just reminded me of his style and prompted me to name the tune as such. A critique of one of my other songs stated that I might be better off writing instrumentals. That will never happen because I love to sing...bad or good. However, I took it to heart this one time and I'm glad I did. This one's for you "Big Jim". R.I.P.

OutWithABang(Mix#16)

This is my latest addition to the BandAmp collection. I listened to this 'till me ears bled, and decided to dust off the minimoog and pop it in on all of the choruses (except for the first chorus...I wanted to build the song). This was an awesome sound used in a lot of old Genesis/Yes/Cars/etc... tunes. I thought of it the other day. Nobody uses these sounds anymore..I wanted to kind of *bring it back*. I added crunch rhythm guitars (mono) and played the same part twice panning to left and right creating true stereo (also after the first chorus). I cleaned up the bass guitar part and added a little more punch to the drums. Thanks for listening...C

Just another song to add to the dusty archives. Basically, I love to write and record. I'll be doing it in the ground after I'm buried. Sorry I haven't been a regular here. I have a lot going on in my life, but I always think of this site when I record something and like to share it. Hope all's well with everybody. Keep rockin' !!
